Bets of the Week at the Cambia Portland Classic: WD's lead to Opportunities

May you have cleaner air than the LPGA Tour is facing in Portland right now. The tournament is switching is to a 54-hole event after canceling the first round Thursday due to the air quality. Portland had the worst air quality in the world earlier in the week.
There are far more serious consequences faced due to the raging fires than people swinging sticks and trying to hit a round ball into a circular hole off in the distance, but there are still bets to be made.
Based on this information, there’s a major focus on past course performance. There were no practice rounds until Thursday at Columbia Edgewater Country Club this week due to the smoke. Most players see at least every hole twice before the competition begins.
Plenty of favorites have withdrawn due to the poor weather. Nelly Korda, Brooke Henderson, Sei Young Kim, Nasa Hataoka, are all in the top 10 in betting odds this week and all withdrew from the tournament. These stars not playing increases the value of every other bet on the board.
Of course, the gimmes still stand. The player needs to be playing well coming into the week. Mirim Lee was one of the 12% of players that won without making the cut the week prior. Salute to her for winning at 600 to 1 and overcoming last week's selection of Nelly Korda. On to the picks!

Danielle Kang (+1600)
The first player to be selected three times on the Paisley Par, the two-time winner since the restart has another 54-hole event in front of her. She finished T11 last week, and her strong recent play is overshadowing her lack of strong performances at the Cambia Portland Classic. More importantly, Kang is seeing the course for the fifth time in her career, though she missed the cut her last trip to Portland in 2018.
Bet: 5 units to win 80 units
Stacy Lewis (+2500)
Lewis looks to be the second American to win twice since the restart, and Portland has treated her kindly over the years. The 12-time winner has three top-two finishes in five appearances since the tournament went to Columbia Edgewater Country Club in 2013, including a win in 2017. She's playing her best golf since returning to the LPGA Tour after having her daughter, with three top 10s including her win at the Aberdeen Standard Investment Ladies Scottish Open.
I trust that the veteran who knows how to handle the golf course in a week with more variables than quadratic equations to handle.
Bet: 7.5 units to win 187.5 units
Sung Hyun Park (+5500)
These are abhorrent odds for Park. Lest we forget the no. 4 player in the world was T2 at the ANA Inspiration in the second-round last week, the former world no. 1 can play golf with the best of them. Park was in second place last year after her first two rounds got her to (-12). She’s tied for 19th most likely to win this week. That’s incredulous for the seven-time career winner.
Sophia Popov, with one victory and no LPGA resume to speak of, is at +5000. Park is by far the more talented player. This is a value I'll continue to hammer week over week until they drop, as it can pay off in the biggest of ways.
Bet: 5 units to win 275 units
Megan Khang (+5500)
Khang, unlike the preceding four picks, has yet to win on the LPGA Tour. Portland is one of her best chances to break through to the winner's circle for the first time. In three career appearances in the city of roses, she's finished in the top 10 twice, including a career-best finish of solo 5th last year.
Khang had a shaky result of T41 last week, but leaning on the history with this one.
Bet: 2.5 units to win 137.5 units
Hannah Green (+6600)
The defending champion is a worthwhile reach bet. Green came out firing on all cylinders in the opening 36 holes last year, going 64-63 to jump ahead of the field. Having the confidence to lean on that is valuable for the two-time winner.
She started the restart well, with a top 15 finish at the first tournament in Scotland. Green has slown down since, but her winning formula in Portland doesn't call for playing well the week prior. In 2019. She missed the cut at the CP Women's Open before her victory and finished T62 last week at the ANA Inspiration before teeing it up in the city of roses as a defending champion.
Bet: 5 units to win 330 units
